Lab Recycling

Lab waste that never touched acutely or extremely hazardous chemicals can be recycled. A good general rule to follow is: if it's clean and safe enough for the landfill, it's clean and safe enough to recycle.

Specific guidelines:
  • For bottles and containers that help chemicals, they should be dry enough that liquid does not drip out. Mark "EMPTY" on the label. Place in the other recycling bin.
  • All rigid plastics go into the other recycling bin, especially pipet tip boxes and trays.
  • Boxes that held kimwipes, tissues, etc. go into the paper recycling bin.
